Katy meets Vampire meets Edward meets…

This are my silly, cool and outrageously gorgeous uni friends! We had a fun night dancing up a storm together. But I really have to admit my absolute favourite part of Halloween is the part where we get ready! I spent forever on my costume, piecing it together. I actually ended up sewing that cupcake bra… it took quite a few attempts until I got it right. On the night of, we spent far too long painting each others faces - but I have to say, everyone looked fabulous!
How was your Halloween? What did you go as?

Across the Border

Harper's Bazar UK November 2012, Model: Carola Remer by Ben Weller
This editorial is so beautiful and inspiring... especially because I  have been pretending I could look this effortlessly chic and gorgeous in the cold, rainy and windy Scottish weather. I absolutely love the long, dramatic coats that basically make up an entire simple outfit. Wool has to be everyones best friend in this half of the world, it has this amazing way of keeping you warm, day in and day out!!!  Another amazing thing about this spread, are the boyish figures that are present within the styling. I find it is very, very hard to pull off this look, there is a certain body type and face structure that just makes it work.
This will hopefully be enough inspiration to get me through the next few months. I'm running out of jumpers… I may need to make a trip to Primark and Topshop soon (yes be very jealous North American followers/readers, I've got it good!!)

Faded Blush

dress, Zara - cardigan & purse, Topshop - boots, Browns - bracelets, thrift store
Okay! Very last summer post - I shouldn't be posting it since it is literally November now.. But hey, it's cool, I am just wishing about wearing such outfits!
Funny enough - this dress is perfect for winter as well.. just add some tights and a thicker jumper and it is ready for action.
Edinburgh has been lovely - super busy weekend, slowly starting week. Happy November everyone!

dress, vintage - bag - gifted from Poland - necklace, Courage my Love - shoes, Banana Republic
Looking at this now makes me so sad… the idea that I could wear a dress without any sweater/jacket/tights is so UNFAIR. That is mostly because I am extremely cold 24/7 in Scotland. I just think I like summer the very best - it is so nice and warm and carefree. Well in reality I really don't mind jackets and boots, fall style seems to always be chic. I have a total obsession with the equestrian meets lumberjack style, flannel, knits and tall boots are just so easy. Hopefully I will be able to show off some of those ensembles soon!
Although this get-up doesn't have anything to do fall fashion i thought I would share anyway (however many months late!).
Happy Halloween/October/Almost Winter! :S

Across the Pond: Adventures in Scotland

Here it is.. here are my crazy adventures in Scotland, the land of haggis, golf and a fine ale. Admittedly I am still in shock with how beautiful it is. Having grown up in a city that was majorly developed in the 1960s and 70s, cement and funky tile jobs are the norm. Here 'New Town' was built throughout 1700s to the 1800s. Passing row upon row of beautiful ornate flats in this lovely city settled in on the coast of the North Sea with a majestic dormant volcano rising from the middle - one cannot complain.
On top of trying to make friends and keeping on top of my school work, I have been exploring the city as much as possible! The rain isn't as aggressive as many promised me it would be, which allowed my first month here to involve exploring a few little areas. My residence is at the bottom of Arthurs Seat which has entertained me for hours of hiking. I went to Portobello beach with a few girls where we walked along the boardwalk and ate fish and chips!
There are days when I miss sour patch kids (our version that is!), the word 'eh' being passed around freely and cars that drive on the right hand side of the road. But here I have tea cakes, lots of people saying funny things in funny accents and oddly shaped plugs!
But in all seriousness, I love it. It is beautiful and I am so lucky to have this opportunity.
Much love to all fellow Canadians and my new Scottish/British/International friends!

Better Late Than Never

Summer days, we are all missing them. The sunshine, the grub and the friends and family.
I apologize for my serious lack of posts… I have been settling in to a new country! First term is right in the swing of things, three essays under my belt and everything! University is a totally different ballgame. A post on life at Edinburgh Uni will be up soon!
I have lots my most important factor to this blog.. all my special photographers! Once I have that sorted out then I shall do some more personal style posts.. and I may post some overdue ones from the summertime as well. For now keep checking in for inspiration and photography.
Thank you to everyone who keeps reading this even though it is essentially about nothing other than my closet and other bits and pieces of my life…
