Here it is.. here are my crazy adventures in Scotland, the land of haggis, golf and a fine ale. Admittedly I am still in shock with how beautiful it is. Having grown up in a city that was majorly developed in the 1960s and 70s, cement and funky tile jobs are the norm. Here 'New Town' was built throughout 1700s to the 1800s. Passing row upon row of beautiful ornate flats in this lovely city settled in on the coast of the North Sea with a majestic dormant volcano rising from the middle - one cannot complain.
On top of trying to make friends and keeping on top of my school work, I have been exploring the city as much as possible! The rain isn't as aggressive as many promised me it would be, which allowed my first month here to involve exploring a few little areas. My residence is at the bottom of Arthurs Seat which has entertained me for hours of hiking. I went to Portobello beach with a few girls where we walked along the boardwalk and ate fish and chips!
There are days when I miss sour patch kids (our version that is!), the word 'eh' being passed around freely and cars that drive on the right hand side of the road. But here I have tea cakes, lots of people saying funny things in funny accents and oddly shaped plugs!
But in all seriousness, I love it. It is beautiful and I am so lucky to have this opportunity.
Much love to all fellow Canadians and my new Scottish/British/International friends!
